Abstract

Dastoor ol-Akhlāq fi al- Qur›an: Derāsa Moqārina lel-Akhlāq an-Nazariyya fi al-Qur›an, by Muhammad Abdollah Darrāz, is the first modern effort to give a picture of the Qur›anic ethics. In this book, the author has adopted a Kantian approach to the Qur›anic ethics, and has tried to extract and organize the Qur›anic ethics system based on this philosopher›s ideas.
Hence, the book has been compiled in two parts. The first part deals with the theoretical ethics while the second part
discusses the practical ethics. In the first part, the author has attempted to formulate the Qur›anic ethics system; and in the second part, he has also five sections in which he has introduced some examples of the Qur›anic ethics in five areas. The book was translated in Persian by Muhammad Reza Atāei and published in 1387. The author of the present article is first going to review the main ideas of the book along with its structure, and content. Following this, he examines its translation, mentioning the original source, and after recounting its shortcomings, he has some suggestions in order to improve it.
