Abstract

The book Sayyid Razi Larijani and the Tehran School of Mysticism, with an Appendix Containing the Treatise Ṭarāʾif al-ḥikma, edited by Amir-Saeid Elahi and Mojtaba Moqaddasi (Tehran: Safir-e Ardehal, 1403 Sh./2024–2025), introduces Sayyid Razi Larijani, a lesser-known yet influential figure in philosophy and mysticism during the Qajar period. It also contains a critical edition of a work attributed to him entitled Ṭarāʾif al-ḥikma. In addition to making available a treatise attributed to one of the most important philosophers and mystics of the Qajar period, the book brings together most of what has been said and reported about Sayyid Razi Larijani. Nevertheless, the book has certain shortcomings. The present article seeks to offer supplementary—and at times previously overlooked—observations concerning Sayyid Razi Larijani.
