Abstract

This note offers several observations on Ali Ravaqi’s article, “A Look at the Vocabulary of Lughat-i Furs, Edited by Fathollah Mojtabaei and Ali-Ashraf Sadeghi.” These include references to several earlier studies that Ravaqi did not take into consideration, as well as alternative hypotheses regarding some of his interpretations. The linguistic forms discussed are: pastā(h) kardan; zushtī in the sense of “grudge, hatred, or enmity”; jān-būz; khaṭṭ instead of khad; parwāz in the sense of “enclosure”; kal-pusht/kal-u pusht; pakhshīdan/pakhsīdan; rasad; nīmah/hīmah; and gūsh in the sense of “interest” or “usury.”
