The composition of poetry in colloquial and local dialects has a long history in Persian literature. In the city of Qom, however, it was ‛Abbās Farsād—a biology teacher and an avid hunter—who is credited with composing, for the first time, poems in the local Qomi dialect. Prior to his efforts, such poetry either had no established precedent or received little recognition and appreciation. This article is a commemorative note honoring ‛Abbās Farsād, the creator of the well-known poem Ḥassaneh Yādet Mīyād (“Ḥassaneh, Do You Remember?”). It highlights his contribution to the preservation and literary expression of the local dialect of Qom and his role in bringing vernacular poetry into broader cultural awareness.
