Abstract

Teachers and students of Farhang High School in Qom, through joint effort and collaboration, published eleven issues of the cultural–literary periodical Uṭāq-e Ābī (“The Blue Room”), amounting to 640 pages. This collective endeavor deserves recognition in the history of the Iranian press. The cooperation between teachers and students provided one of the best pathways for transforming an education system centered on rote memorization into one emphasizing information processing and the practical application of knowledge. The key to the success of the Uṭāq-e Ābī group lay in their commitment to diversity of perspectives, tastes, and approaches. They did not see the world only in blue; they cherished it in all its colors, differences, contradictions, and tensions. Their work encompassed multiple dimensions of Persian literature, dedicating sections to classical and contemporary literature, poetry and prose, Iranian and world literature, as well as serious and humorous writing.
