Libraries and librarianship are universal institutions that can hold an exalted position. The city of Qom, in particular, hosts the highest number of public and specialized libraries, such that this sun-scorched city, crowded with pilgrims, may justly be described as a paradise for researchers. This article, while reviewing and critiquing the annual publication Kitāb-i Sāl-i Sī (“The Book of the Year Thirty”), also examines both the positive and negative developments in the field of librarianship in Qom.
