This article provides a brief introduction to the Universal Short Title Catalogue (USTC) project, based at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. The USTC aims to identify and catalog printed books published between 1450 and 1700 CE. In this study, the author discusses the history of cataloging and identifying the earliest printed books in Europe, offering a list of the first Persian books recorded in this project.
