Abstract

Fakhr Rāzi’s commentary on Fātehat Alketāb (The Opening) has been one of the most fruitful commentaries on this sura’s literal and figurative meaning in the history of Islam. It has been recently published by Seyyed Javād Hāshemi. In this article, the author tends to provide a report of this translation of the book; therefore, he firstly gives an explanation about Fakhr Rāzi’s works. Then he talks in detail about the position and the status of Rāzi’s Great Commentary, and makes a comparison between the present translation and that of Halabi’s. In the end, he focuses on the translator’s method and the deficiencies in the translation of this book.
