Abstract

In recent decades, new sources have put the study of the Prophet's biography in a new perspective. One of these sources is the "Kitāb al-Maghāzī"; a section in the Muṣannaf of Abdul Razzāq. The Muṣannaf of Abdul Razzāq has been collected from several manuscripts and includes a large number of narrations, of which al-Maghāzī is part of the fifth volume. al-Maghāzī is a historical section that describes the most important events during the life of the Prophet (PBUH) and after his death until the caliphate of Mu'āwiyah. The importance of the mentioned book is due to having older narrations which, in comparison with others, have been attributed more to Ibn Shahāb Zuhrī. In the following article, the author has tried to date these hadiths and narrations more accurately. In line with this goal, he first introduces the book of Muṣannaf of Abdul Razzāq and talks about its fifth part, namely the book of al-Maghāzī and its sources. Then, referring to Mu’ammar and Zuhrī Hadith sources, he discusses the importance of al-Maghāzī book. Comparing a narration from Abdul Razzāq's book al-Maghāzī with different narrations, of Al-Jāmi 'al-Ṣaḥiḥ Bukhārī and Sira Ibn Hishām, the author concludes that there are other authentic hadiths from Mu'ammar / Zuhri in al-Maghāzī that make it an ancient and valuable source for the Prophet's biography.
