Manāhij ol-Mustashriqin fi al-Derāsāt al-Arabia al-Islamiya is the title of a two-volume book published in Tunisia. The first volume consists of eight chapters whose titles are the Quran, prophetic tradition and its narration, the prophetic biography, Islamic belief, law and sharia, philosophy, history, language and literature. In each chapter, an article discusses the important views of some Orientalists and sometimes of the like-minded Muslims. The present paper is the translation of Muhammad Mustafa A›zami›s article criticizing Joseph Schacht›s view. It is published in the second chapter of the book called «Prophetic tradition and its narration».
