Abu Tāhir Khātooni was one of the literary men and poets of the fifth and sixth centuries AH, and also one of the agents of Seljuk ruling system. No collection of poems is left by him; however, there are some valuable scattered verses and short poems by him in different literary and historical works, as well as in tadhkirahs. One of his verse quoted in Hamdullah Mustoufi Qazvīni›s Nozhat ol-Qoloob is: Moosh chon bāzmānd az koshtan/ bar palangān gamiz konad. The present paper is going to discuss the term «koshtan» which in both manuscripts of Nozhat ol-Qoloob available to the author has been recorded in the same way. According to the author, this term was originally «leshtan» and was distorted due to the bad reading of the scribes, or publishers, or even Mostoufii himself.
