Islami written by another famous Islamist scholar Professor Josef van Ess briefly expresses his views on the issue of the Prophet›s succession along with the Shia and Sunni›s position in this regard. This time, he has more explicitly explained about his point of view and what he stated in his book the Succession to Muhammad. Because of the importance
of the attitudes and views he has in the mentioned article about the history of founding Shi›ism as well as the issue of the succession of the Prophet (pbuh), and due to his criticizing some of Van Ess› views on the above-mentioned issues, this paper is going to review some of his remarkable opinions on these issues one by one.
