In the present article, the author attempts to provide a definition of «Murgh-e ivān (porch chicken)» which is part of the phrase «Murgh-e ivān ze hol-e ū beparīd (the porch chicken flies away due to being scared of him)» in one of Sa’di›s Golestān anecdotes. According to the author, what Sa’di means is the picture of the chicken painted or stuccoed on the porch.
