Abstract

The History of the Qur’an, which is a masterpiece of the Qur’anic studies in the west, includes the second edition of this book written by Theodor Nӧldeke and revised by Friedrich Schwally, The Collection of the Qur’an (the second part of the History of the Qur’an) which is a joined work by Theodor Nӧldeke and Friedrich Schwally, and The History of the Text of the Qur’an (the third part of the History of the Qur’an) written by Schwally and others. In this paper, the author has examined the first English translation of the History of the Qur’anwhich is carried out by Wolfgang Behn. Regarding this, he firstly talks about the features of the translation, and then discusses the usefulness of this Qur’anic studies classic for the researchers of the modern era.
