Al-Azmeh in his book The Emergence of Islam in Late Antiquity: Allah and His Peoplestrives to provide a complex interpretation of evidences and material sources in order to explicate what is called “early Islam” (Paleo-Islam). The present paper is the translation of this book review written by Gerald Hawting.
