Abstract

Any evaluation of and commentary on the shape and structure of the Qur’an depends on what the researcher’s opinion is about the arrangement and consolidation of the Qur’an verses. The author of this article examines the language and the style of the Qur’an in general; and accordingly analyzes the content and form of certain literary genres which are present in the Qur’an. He also examines the intertextual relations, i.e. various kinds of relations between separate parts in each chapter. Regarding this, he provides some introductory explanation about the arrangement and final consolidation of the Qur’an. He then elaborately discusses some important subjects such as ‘Quran’s literary, stylistics and linguistic characteristic’. Following this, he considers rhymes and structures of verses as a criterion for relative dating; and believes that the agreement between the groups of verses is a kind of standard as well. Finally, he talks of the structural elements of the chapters.
