Abstract
The author of this paper intends to write about Urjūzahfī al-Tibb (Poem on Medicine) attributed to Avicenna. Regarding this, he starts the article with the history of tendency towards poetry in Persian and Arabic. Following this, he talks about the definition of the poem, writing urjūzah, and its features as well as its advantages. Then, he discusses Urjūzahfī al-Tibb (Poem on Medicine), attributed to Avicenna, and scrutinizes the doubts about this work. Other issues presented here include the features of Urjūzahfī al-Tibb, other medical urjūzahs which are attributed to Avicenna, the commentators of urjūzah, and a report of the Latin, Hebrew, and Persian translations and prints. Finally, the author is going to explain some samples of the medical urjūzahs written by others.
