In different eras, Imamiya theology has been impacted by various important intellectual currents in Islamic civilization. Among all, Mu;tazila theology, Ash’ari theology, Avicennism, Ibn Arabi’s mysticism, and Sadrāie’s wisdom are the most important and effective schools on Imamiya theology. The most important developments in Imamiya theology, which led to the emergence of distinct theological schools and currents in Imamiya theology are due to the effects of the mentioned schools. In the previous issue of this journal, apaper titled “Imamiya Theology and Mu’tazila Discourse (Some consideration regarding the issue of the impact of Mu’tazila theology on Imamiya theology)” was published which talks about the influence of Mu’tazila theology system on Imamiya theology. This paper explains about the fact that Imamiya theology has been influenced by Ash’ari theology, Avicennism, Illuminationism, Ibn Arabi’s mysticism, and Sadrāie’s wisdom. Knowing about these effects is quite helpful in the way we face the Imamiya theological texts, and reminds us to take other schools and their impacts in consideration as well.

Among the merits of Amthal wa Hikam, by Dehkhoda, are the translations which he has presented from prose and poetic sentences. One of the most prominent features of Dehkhoda’s translation is its being archaic and pure Persian, so sometimes the usual readers may not understand the translations correctly. Through several pieces of writing, the author has tried to find the translated parts of Amthal wa Hikam, and presents them along with the Farsi and Arabic diacritical signs and editing. In the previous issue of this journal, in the form of a series of notes about history, culture and literature, a part of the translations of the first volume of the Dehkhoda’s translations was presented. In the following article, the next part of the translations are going tobe discussed.

Thomas Nigel, in his recent work, briefly titled as the Mind and the Cosmos, tries to stand against every kind of naturalistic interpretations of the three categories of consciousness, cognition and value; and deny the Darwinians’ materialistic explanation of them. This book should be considered as the continuation of Nigel’s intellectual process. Over the years of his scientific work, he has always tried to oppose any conventional naturalistic approach to non-physical affairs. In this paper, the author is going to review the book translationdone by Javād Heidari and published by Negāh-e Mo’āser publishing house in 1392. Regarding this, he provides some examples from the translation and points out the translator’s problems, and then he presents his own translation. By mentioning some of the words and phrases which are translated incorrectly, or are not translated at all, he also talks about some of the editing and Persian prose problems.

Dr. Shamisā’s latest book is called Shah-e Nameha (the King of the Letters) based on an interpretation derived from Rāhat os-Sodur This work is in fact a collection of his notes on Ferdowsi and Shanameh which have been written over the years as the marginal annotations of the Shahnameh corrected by Julius Mohl, and then of the Moscow Edition of Shahnameh. Lately, this collection has been published in the form of a book of twenty chapters. This book sometimes include some new and contemplative hints, guesses, and questions. Although various topics are discussed in this rather large book (900 pages), many of the materials are briefly presented, which is probably due to their original form as a note. This paper is going to propose some suggestions about Shah-e Nameha’s opinions and perceptions

Jurisprudence and Politics in Contemporary Iran, by Dāwud Firahi, was published in two volumes by Nei Publication in 1392. This book, on the one hand, addresses the relationship between religion and democracy and, according to the author, seeks to “assess the position of democracy in the religious society, relying on the knowledge of jurisprudence”; and on the other hand, it explores this issue in the Islamic political jurisprudence system, especially Shi’a political jurisprudence. Hence, it seeks to illustrate the evolution of Shi’a political jurisprudence in the matter of governing, and its relationship with democracy from Constitutional Revolution to Islamic Republic. After introducing and mentioning some of the positive aspects of the book, the writer outlines some considerations regarding the methodology and content of both volumes of the book.
